In the Queen Anne style, and likely from early 1800s, this petite oak bureau features a slant drop-front with a writing surface, main drawer and 8 smaller drawers, 5 cubby Pidgeon holes, and a drop ‘pistol’ well.

The front has 3 drawers, the top being ‘false’ (decorative) to allow for the pistol well. The 2nd and 3rd drawers offer substantial depth and slide out unhindered.

Of quintessential early English ‘Queen Anne’ style, though the general cabinetry work and style of the oak strongly indicate French or Quebec manufacture.

In fantastic condition for its age, with very little wood-worm (more evidence of North American provenance ). The wood has a deep honey patina. The hardware is not original - with the current pulls (late 1800s) replacing round wood pulls.

Overall, a unique and rare item in great condition. The diminutive size is especially appealing, adding to its rarity.
