A late 19th century tapestry after 'March' from the 12 "The Hunts of Maximilian" tapestries by master weaver Bernard van Orley, of Brussels, 1533.

Each tapestry represented a month of the year, with March used to be the first month of the year. It depicts a hunting scene in the forest of Soignes , near Brussels. The horseman is believed to be Emporer Charles V with the Royal Palace of Brussels seen in the background (which burned down in 1731). The tapestry is extraoridnarily detailed, with owls, rabbits and other wildlife dotted throughout the landscape.

The original can be seen in the Louvre Museum, Paris, France and stands at over 4m tall. They were most likely commissioned by Emperor Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation and completed between 1528 and 1533.
