A George III mixed-medium religious diorama with a combination of silk needlework, watercolour painting and cut paper. Portrays a biblical scene, likely the Adoration of the Shepherds or similar allegory representing the birth of Jesus. 
The bright silk threads create a textured affect, while watercolour is used to embellish the details of the faces. The Cross is wrapped in dark wire. 
An outstanding work of art that is complemented by the period gesso frame.  The condition is first rate .
